    Mlb 2006

I rented it the other day. It absolutely dominates MVP and ESPN in every aspect! It has the same pitching interface as MVP, but is a little easier to use than the version seen in MVP '05. Career mode is off the hook. It is well worth $39.99.

I'm kind of wishing I got that instead of MVP. MVP just seems so similar to last seasons, just with some of the gliches fixed.

The only problem that MLB has is that it freezes up a considerable amount. I have only had it freeze once in about 20 or so games played. It has to do with the "broadcast animations" or something to that effect. The graphics, especially stadium graphics, are amazing.

is mlb by 989? if so, then I think I've seen the commercials and all the players look obese to me...do you know what I mean? just compared to other games, the players look wider and thicker...maybe it's just me

I've rented tons of baseball games over the years. I've never really found one I've liked.

So, I just stay away from them now and stick to Madden and College Football.

It is from 989, and the players look normal when you actually play the game.

    does MLB have minor leagues?

And I think MVP 2005 is far FAR superior to MVP 2004.

But maybe that's because I absolutely loved 2004, except for the annoying gliches it had. So with those fixed and single A ball added, it's the perfect game IMO....although I have yet to try out MLB 2006

redsfan, could you give some specifics as to what makes MLB's career mode better than MVP 2005's? Cuz I absolutely love the franchise mode in MVP, so if MLB's is better then that's amazing

I loved 2004 as well, but they didn't seem to do much to improve 2005, other than fixing mistakes that should have been fixed in 2004. 98% of the gameplay is identical.

98% of the gameplay is identical...but I loved 98 percent of last year's gameplay, so that's not really a problem for me. It's just that 2 percent that had the mistakes (such as not being able to throw a grounder to 1st till the pitcher got there) that got on my nerves, and is no longer an issue. I haven't had a single complaint about MVP 2005 yet.

I thoroughly enjoy 2005...I like how you get 3 inning saves now...it didn't do that last year, so I get saves for my blowouts

The only thing that pisses me off, just like last year, how the computer makes 99.9% of their diving catches...half the time they don't even need to dive and it looks really stupid

Another thing to remeber is MLB will be around next year while MVP will not. If you don't want to have to get used to a new game next year MLB might be the better choice.

Career mode is a completely different beast. In career mode, you start out as a non-roster invitee in ST and you have to play your way onto the team you choose. If you do very well, you'll make it to the show. If you were good, but not great, you'll be in the minors. If you suck or are marginal, you won't get a contract. You have to train to improve your skills. You can even interact with the manager and the GM (request more playing time, ask for a trade, etc.)

Separate from that is Franchise mode, which combines the best elements of MVP's Franchise mode and owner mode together. You have to both run the team and run the business side (promotions, stadium upgrades, etc.)

Plus, the graphics, especially stadium graphics, are almost identical to their real-world counterpart.
