    Gerald Laird

    Folks:

This ugly monstrosity is hitting .313 with 2 homers, 4 runs, and 6 RBI's. The apocalypse is near. LOOK AT THOSE CHEEKS! The Texas Chipmunk is behind the plate in Arlington.

This is a guy who always had some ability, I mean, you always heard about Gerald Laird as a guy who could field his position, and he threw out 39% of base stealers last year, but his hitting looks as if it is finally turning a corner, which is good for him...and for Rangers fans

haha, well, he was actually always a good defensive catcher. And I'm sure Texas' ballpark isn't hurting his offense(god knows how it did last year). So, take back your words dammit! Gerald Laird is looking at a breakout season here!

edit: I can't believe I just said those words, lol

Laird's hitting has actually sucked in every game he's played this season except for yesterday's monster 2 HR, 6 RBI game, which has made his season numbers look good. But with him catching behind the plate, the Rangers pitchers have all pitched well, except for one average outing from Jason Jennings. Otherwise, he's doing a great job handling the staff. Saltalamacchia will not be seen for a while if Laird keeps up his good work.

I have to agree with this. Take away last night's game and Laird has 1 hit this season, no homers, no runs, and no RBI. Gotta give him some credit though, he hasn't struck out once in 16 AB's so far this year. It wouldn't be all that hard for Laird to have a standout offensive season, considering in his only full season thus far he hit .224. He's a great guy to have for defensive purposes though. No errors so far and he's thrown out 3 out of 3 would-be base stealers.
Integrity can accommodate the inadvertent error and the honest difference of opinion; it cannot accommodate deceit or subordination of principle.
