Guillermo Moscoso is 4-5 with a 3.41 ERA and has been as hot and cold as the team itself. Posting a 1.75 ERA in 6 starts before the break, but a 7.31 ERA since. Showing some signs of improvement recently, giving up just 2 runs over 6 1/3 innings against the Twins in his most recent start.
Jeff Niemann, is 5-4 with a 3.51 ERA and pitched his fifth consecutive quality start against Seattle his last time out, holding the Mariners just three hits in 6 2/3 scoreless innings. He also set a career high 11 strikeouts. He went 3-0 with a 1.06 ERA over five starts in July.
Hideki Matsui has a 12-game hitting streak, batting .521 with 11 runs, six doubles, two homers and 10 RBIs.
Evan Longoria has 40 RBIs in 44 games since June 11, tops in the American League in that time and is leading the ML with 19 walks in his first 17 games since the break.
P Grant Ballfour will be making his first trip to the Trop since becoming a member of the Athletics. The Thunder from Down Under was a key piece of the Rays run to the WS in 2008.
