    Player Longoria rocks the vote.

    I voted for both, weeee!

NEW YORK -- Tampa Bay Rays rookie third baseman Evan Longoria and Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Corey Hart were elected All-Stars by fans in Internet balloting the ended Thursday.

Longoria received 9 million votes and was followed by Jermaine Dye of the Chicago White Sox, Jason Giambi of the New York Yankees, Brian Roberts of Baltimore and Jose Guillen of Kansas City.

Hart got 8 million votes and was followed by the New York Mets' David Wright, Philadelphia's Pat Burrell, San Francisco's Aaron Rowand and Houston's Carlos Lee.

Major League Baseball said a record 47.8 million votes were cast, more than double last year's 23.1 million.

One more roster spot remained to be filled, with NL manager Clint Hurdle having to decide on a replacement for injured Chicago Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano. Colorado's Matt Holliday, originally selected as a reserve, will replace Soriano in the starting lineup.

Defeating Dye was no small feat, he's had a great year too. And obviously with the little nugget at the end, I'm sure Burrell or Rowand or Lee will sneak in.

that's ridiculous. Burrell and Giambi/Dye should have been voted in. Those 2 picks are bogus

I would take Longoria over Giambi everyday of the week. Dye will get it since Ortiz can't play. Either Lee, Burrell or Rowand will get in since Soriano is out too.

    Jon Corey Hart: .293, .332, .504, 14 homers, 56 rbi's
    Patrick Burrell: .282, .414, .587, 22 homers, 54 rbi's

Close but Burrell wins with way more homers and a much higher OBP and slugging

    Evan Longoria: .281, .352, .587, 16 homers, 53 rbi's
    Jermaine Terrell Dye: .298, .353, .538, 19 homers, 52 rbi's
    Jason Gilbert Giambi: .257, .394, .534, 18 homers, 54 rbi's

Longoria's got the good mix of average and OBP and slugging, but i'd give my vote to Giambi with his huge OBP. Support the stach

Giambi's OBP is overrated since he is slow as shit. Longoria plays GG caliber defense and is a better hitter than Giambi.

Longoria has had a good year....and the NL should have been between Burrell and Wright. Close one there, you know where my allegiance lies.

Of course that would be with Burrell and the first place Phillies.

You mean the slumping, lazy, forgot how to pitch because they play on a little league field phillies? No way.

I root for the hot as hell, can't stop us now, breathing down your neck Mets.

After losing 3 of 4 to the Mets. They swept the Braves before that, but before that they lost 11 of 14.

I know. Just saying they beat a good Cards team. Congrats on the sweep by the way.

Thanks. The Mets finally look like they know what they're doing as a team. Hopefully this will continue now that Alou is done for the year. I think it will, because Alou hadn't been with the team during the hot stretch. Good sign for the Mets.

Another good point. But if the pitching holds up, I'm liking the odds much better.
