    Rays Dan Johnson.....

The Tampa Bay Rays claimed 1B-Dan Johnson off of waivers today from the Oakland A's.

Insurance, use as a DH, PH, go to AAA. Trade bait for prospects. Who knows.

That sure was a quick time in Tampa for Dan. He will be picked up by some other American League team. Maybe the A's will get him I think they are need of another 1B/DH type.

Can't believe Gabe Gross knocked him off the roster.

    Re: Dan Johnson.....

The Tampa Tribune reports that Dan Johnson has cleared waivers and will accept an assignment to Triple-A Durham.

It's probably for the best. Johnson has had just one at-bat since the season started and could use a tune-up in Triple-A. He'll be called up if there's an injury, and could also be traded if he starts hitting.
Good for the Rays as they beat the system. I wish my Giants would have gotten to keep Rajai Davis.
