    Cardinals Carpenter Injures Arm

The injury to Chris Carpenter is being called a right triceps strain.
Triceps strains, like an injury, vary in severity. If it's mild, he should only miss one start. A stint on the disabled list appears likely.

Chris Carpenter was pulled in the sixth inning of Sunday night's game after a meeting on the mound with head trainer Barry Weinberg and manager Tony La Russa.
After throwing an inside breaking ball, his 66th pitch of the game, Carpenter called for the trainers. He then put his hand to his upper arm, indicating something to Weinberg. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with his reconstructed elbow, but we'll keep you updated.
Carpenter was looking good since coming off the DL so this is a huge blow if he has to miss more time. Cards are still hoping Wainwright can come back and close. Time is running out for the Cards.

This is a very big blow. Carpenter has been...well...Chris Carpenter, since his return. They need him. Hopefully it's nothing serious. I like the guy a lot.

Tough blow to a team in playoff contention....hopefully it's not too serious.
