Cards Like Schilling

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Curt Schilling is the Cardinals' preferred target as they attempt to upgrade their rotation.
The Cards contacted Schilling on Friday, though they can't discuss money with him yet. Schilling also made it clear on his blog that he is involved in discussions with Boston, the only team he can talk money with right now. As open as Schilling is on his blog, this is one time that teams would be smart to follow the rules regarding the prohibition from discussing contract terms within 15 days after the World Series.

This would be a good deal for the Cards as Schilling knows he's worth just a one year deal and that's all the Cards need him for. It's definitely an upgrade over Wells, Wellmeyer and Reyes. No real big time FA's in the starters department and Schilling is a winner. Schilling in a rotation with Carpenter and Wainwright would look great in that NL Central.
