    Congrats to the A's. I admit, I wrote them off at the beginning of the year, although I do want them to win and not the Angels...still bitter over 2002.

    I'm not sure if Beane planned this or if this is luck or everything fell into place quickly or whatever, but damn, I don't think Moneyball is dead yet.

    FWIW, if my Sox can't win it all or make it to the LCS, I'd love to have the A's in at least the LCS, maybe face off with the Orioles if they could make it, or White Sox (inspite of their fans not being there). Great, great story.

    the difference is that Texas was supposed to do well and the A's were not. Then the A's went 15 below .500...we may not make the playoffs, but we're 1 of 5 teams in the history of MLB to get back to .500 after being 15 games under, nevermind the 8 games over .500 we are. We're 22 - 5 in our last 27 games and have the best record in the majors since May 29 at either 36 or 37 and 13. As I said, we may not make it, but we came back from the dead when we were written off and other teams have fallen apart. There's still 2 months or so left in the season, but we're right in it.

    Lets add the best the National League had to offer getting swept, thus could not even win a game in the World Series.
