No matter where the Cincinnati Reds are, manager Dusty Baker has former players -- former teammates and guys who played for him as a manager -- stop into his office for a visit. On this trip, former stars Chili Davis and Matt Williams paid visits, and Baker called Jay Bruce into his office for introductions. "Jay didn't know Chili, didn't know who he played for," Baker said. "When I told him Chili hit 350 home runs, he said, 'Really, wow.' And he asked me if Matt Williams could hit a little bit, and I said, 'Not a little bit, a whole lot.' "
I'm sorry but how do you not know who Chili Davis and Matt Williams are? Its not like Bruce is some foreign born player who just started playing a few years ago. A professional baseball player not knowing even recent history is pathetic and that's why Jay Bruce is today's biggest boner.

I chuckled when I read that he didn't know who Chili Davis was. When I read that he asked if Matt Williams could hit a little bit I laughed out loud.

Matt Williams and Tony Gwynn were both robbed in the strike shortened season. (Along with the entire Expos team.)
