WASHINGTON (AP) -- Second baseman Jose Vidro would be sent to the Seattle Mariners by the Washington Nationals for two prospects in a tentative trade that is pending physicals for all players involved, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Wednesday night.

It is believed the Nationals would receive outfielder Chris Snelling and right-hander Emiliano Fruto. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the trade had not been completed.

What was the damn point of this deal other than dealing one of the best pure hitting prospects (granted he is injury prone) and one of our better bullpen spects for Jose Vidro. Its a pretty puzzling move considering he will make 16 M over the next 2 seasons. Where are they going to play Vidro? I hope not DH? 2B, we have All-Star Jose Lopez there. Can't move Lopez to SS, GG candidate Betacourt is there. Lopez can play 3B, but now is Beltre out the door? Our starting pitching is still as awful as it was last season except we couldnt shell out the extra 2 million for Ted Lilly. Or the 103 combined million to get Matsuzaka (over 6 years, including the posting fee, 17.1 M Per) to get someone thats talented and young, even though unproven. Why must we always go after old veterans and not the younger players. This is just frustrating that Bavasi is actually doing worse than Gillick. This is coming from someone that HATES PAT GILLICK.
