Justin Knoedler came through in the clutch this week for the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League. Pinch-hitting in the eighth inning of a tie game, the 25-year-old catcher homered to lead the Solar Sox to a 6-5 win over the Grand Canyon Rafters.

Knoedler and five other Giants prospects are continuing their 2005 campaigns with the Scorpions. Here's how they fared over the past week of the AFL's 32-game season:

RHP Jeremy Accardo: The 23-year-old Accardo made one appearance on the week, striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to lower his ERA to 3.68

LHP Brian Burres: The 24-year-old Oregonian suffered the worst outing of any AFL hurler this season in Monday's 10-2 loss to Phoenix, allowing nine runs on eight hits in one inning of work to raise his ERA to 12.46.

2B Kevin Frandsen: The second baseman went 0-for-5 on Saturday to snap his five-game hitting streak. On Tuesday, Frandsen collected two hits and scored a run, lifting his average to .258 but an 0-for-4 on Oct. 20 dropped him back down to .229.

C Justin Knoedler: Knoedler's pinch-hit homer was his one of only two hits in six at-bats, lowering his average to .238 over eight games.

OF Dan Ortmeier: The 24-year-old Ortmeier did his part in the Solar Sox's 16-4 trouncing of the Peoria Saguaros on Friday, collecting two hits and a walk while scoring three times.

RHP Brian Wilson: Wilson struggled with his control in a two-inning stint against Phoenix on Monday, giving up one run on a hit and four walks. Over 8 1/3 innings thus far, the 23-year-old has allowed four runs on eight hits and seven walks.
Not looking good at all.
