Technically the verdict is still out on Braun.

The crux of the steroid issue is that they supposedly give players an "unfair advantage", yet according to most of these "lists' of players that presumably have used ; there are far more players that had mediocre career numbers than superior ones. In my view it would stand to reason that those that did stand out probably would have had great numbers without using and liekly screwed their HOF chances for for a minute increase in stats.

Yet with the hundreds that have been suspected along with those on named lists there have only been a small percentage that would be considered to have "outstanding" numbers. If steroids were truly some miracle drugs why are so many of them just mediocre?

The most common use for steroids is to help quicken recovery from injuries or surgery, even among non-athletes. It is very possible that the majority took them for that purpose more than with the idea that they would somehow be a super athlete, but get swept with the cheating brush due to those that have abused their use. They weren’t banned until the ABUSE of them became an issue, key word there ABUSE. There is no way anyone can determine that every single player that has ever taken them did so with the specific intent to become a hulk phenom rather than to just get back to playing as fast they could.

Funny how it's directly proportionate to the # of actual decent ballplayers that took them isn't it.

Once again it wont take Joe Schmo and turn him into Babe Ruth, but it sure took Barry Bonds and did it...He was NOT on that path prior to injecting everything known to man and horse-kind into his butt...He was on his way to being a fantastic HOFer 30/30 guy who hit solid distance HR's, and BOOM turned into Adonis hitting tape measured shots.......

Same goes for McGwire who without them doesn't sniff the HOF and Sosa who also doesn't sniff the HOF w/o roids and cork.

Obviously you still have to know how to make good contact with the ball. These aren't superman pills. But what they can do is make you able to hit it father, and recover faster.

Again, these guys making millions to play a sport for a living wouldn't be putting that paycheck in jeopardy if there was no benefit to it.

Furthermore, these less than stellar scrubs still did well enough to make a major league roster, which is a big feat by itself in the grand scheme of things. A feat they arguably may not have made without help...
