    Giants Playoff Atmosphere Starts Tonight

The Giants have the chance to take control of their destiny for the next three days against the top dog Padres. Giants just came off a good series against the Cubs taking 3 of 4. Jonathan Sanchez has already been running his mouth saying the Giants will take first and not look back. I am hoping this is the case. The Giants aren't the same team they were in the first half when the Padres were kicking their teeth in every time they faced off. This is a crucial series and I for one am looking forward to it.

I hope Sanchez's comments are plastered all over the bulletin boards in the Padres clubhouse.

You mean a penis war similar to the '06 Patriots being taken aback by then-Chargers' coach Marty Schottenheimer remarking that "They had their run"? Yeah right, that's really professional.

If it motivates my favorite team to a victory I don't care if I'm being hypocritical.

    Padres take game 1.

And that game certainly had a playoff atmosphere to it!

Way to back up your words Sanchez!! Get an early two run lead and then immediately cough it up! You guaranteed a sweep and then guaranteed that wouldn't happen

Its not looking good for the Giants and this can be a crucial blow to this team. Giants just can't seem to get to the Padres pitching and the Padres aren't getting a lot of runs but they are getting the extra basehits which leads to just enough runs. Its 2-1 in the 7th but the Padres bullpen is just too good. Looks like we might be the ones getting swept, Sanchez.

Holy shit!! The Giants came through in extras to take the win. They got to the Padres bullpen twice to win the game. I must say, that was one horrific job by the homeplate umpire today. Just terrible

Bud Black gave the game away when he let Latos come out in the 7th with 104 pitches.

Are you saying he should have stayed in longer or been pulled earlier?

Pulled sooner. He shouldn't have came out for the 7th inning at all. I'm assuming Bud was hoping he'd be able to make it through that inning so he can go with Gregerson and Adams for the 8th and 9th.

That wasn't the only problem, of course. Stranding 16 runners will always kill you.

Yeah, never a lot of offense between us. I don't know, Latos was dominating all game and made the one mistake really. Gregerson didn't have hardly any movement on his pitches and like I said earlier, that umpire was total shit for both sides. Very frustrating game.

Unfortunately I couldn't watch the game and was relegated to following on sportsline gameday.

I did see a lot of green dots (balls) completely inside the strike zone box, but I wasn't sure if it was the umpire or the webmaster screwing up.

The Freak is no more and the Giants will more than likely lose a game in the standing thanks to this series. Sanchez was way off in calling a sweep as it was us that almost got swept. Lincecum gave up five earned runs in just 3.2 IP and put the Giants in a hole they are most likely not getting out of. Its 7-2 in the 6th and don't see the Giants getting to the Padres pen two days in a row. No playoff atmosphere today
