Foppert fairs well in season debut

I was happy to see Jesse Foppert do well in his first start since having Tommy John surgery two seasons ago. Foppert went 5.2 innings and giving up 3 runs but only two were earned. You can thank Durham for the other run. Vizquel made a great play and threw to Durham to get the force out but Durham dropped it. Routine plays are not getting done. Durham made up for it by going 3-5 with a homer and two runs scored. The Giants lost it in the 11th on a bloop single by Shannon Stewart. A very, very tough loss since we did well against Johan Santana.

Grissom and Alfonzo are now on the DL. Alfonzo has been a best hitter and now we are without himfor four weeks. Ouch!! Todd Linden and Adam Shabala have been called up to take their places. The Giants now have six rookies on the team.

Bonds is now off antibiotics and is ready to start baseball activites. This is huge news but by the time he comes back. It will be too little too late.

Twins are a tough team, so for a first start not too bad even though the walk total was a bit high. Hopefully the Giants will continue to take it slow with him and by the end of the season he'll start cruising, he has the stuff, no question about it.

If neither the Dbacks nor the Padres win the NL West, the Giants will.
