    Phillies Phillies@Giants July 14/16

    Friday, July 14 AT&T Park | 7:15 PM PT

    Jon Lieber, RHP (3-6, 5.47)VS.Matt Morris, RHP (7-7, 4.29)

    Scouting Report:
Lieber impressed in his last start on July 7 against Pittsburgh, but took the loss. The right-hander allowed two earned runs in seven innings in his first start since a May 29 groin injury. In this start, he will be reacquainted with Giants slugger Barry Bonds, who sent a Lieber pitch off the face of the third deck at Citizens Bank Park for his 713rd career home run.
Morris didn't get a decision in his last outing, a 9-7 loss to the Dodgers on July 7. He allowed 10 hits over six innings and five earned runs, including three runs in the first inning. The veteran still has a season-best four-game winning streak, logging a 2.48 ERA over five starts.

    Saturday, July 15 AT&T Park | 1:05 PM PT

    Cory Lidle, RHP (5-7, 4.95)VS.Noah Lowry, LHP (4-5, 4.08)

    Scouting Report:
Lidle had his best outing in a long time in his last start before the All-Star break, exiting with his first win since May 21. The right-hander pitched six innings, giving up two earned runs. He has established himself as more of a strikeout pitcher this year, taking over the team lead at 83. Lidle did not get a turn the last time the Phillies played San Francisco.
Lowry has won his last two outings, but has been hurt by the long ball this season, giving up 10 homers overall and eight in his last 13 games. After rough 1-5, 4.28 stretch ending June 21, he has gone 2-0 with a 3.66 ERA in his last three games. Using fastball more now after over-reliance on changeup.

    Sunday, July 16 AT&T Park | 1:05 PM PT

    Brett Myers, RHP (5-3, 3.86)VS.Jason Schmidt, RHP (6-5, 2.78)

    Scouting Report:
Myers is pitching for the first time since June 24 after taking a 2 1/2-week leave of absence. He was arrested on June 23 and charged with domestic assault for allegedly striking his wife, Kim. He left the team four days later, and has taken part in professional counseling sessions as part of the Phillies' Employee Assistance Program. Myers' Sunday start is not definite, but he is rejoining the team in San Francisco on July 14.
Schmidt returns after not competing in his third All-Star Game in Pittsburgh. Has logged club-best 13 quality starts and has yielded two earned runs or less in 11 of his last 13 starts. Hard-luck pitcher, Schmidt has fifth-worst run support in the league at 3.92 runs per game.

Morris kicks off second half for Giants
San Francisco (45-43) vs. Phillies (39-47), Friday, 7:15 p.m. PT

Giants right-hander Matt Morris is a different pitcher facing the Phillies Friday night at AT&T Park than when he opposed them back on May 7 in Philadelphia.
Morris was in the midst of a worrisome four-game losing streak, and gave up seven runs over only five innings in a 9-5 defeat. He ended up 1-5 with a 5.54 ERA in May.

But the 31-year-old veteran would find his groove, reeling off four consecutive victories and sporting a 3-1, 2.19 June, then opening July with another win. He had a rough last outing, however, giving up 10 hits over six frames.

"The pitching," said a self-flagellating Morris, "was just unacceptable."

Morris is 2-3 with a 3.78 lifetime ERA vs. the Phillies over nine outings.

    Pitching matchup

SF: RHP Matt Morris (7-7, 4.29)
Morris didn't get a decision in his last outing, a 9-7 loss to the Dodgers on July 7. He allowed 10 hits over six innings and five earned runs, including three runs in the first inning.

PHI: RHP Jon Lieber (3-6, 5.47)
Lieber came back strong on July 7 against Pittsburgh after missing a month with a groin injury, but he took a 3-2 loss despite giving up only two earned runs over seven innings.

    Player to watch
After four days off to rest his knees, expect Barry Bonds to ignite a second-half offensive resurgence.

Giants lose 2 of 3 to the Phils as Bonds hit a homer, Niekro and Ellison were sent down, Linden and Santos wre called up, Durham remains on fire, and Cain pitched a beauty.
