Well like i sais he's our best 1b prospect......might as well play him............it's not like we have anyone else, rather see him than Sweeney at first..........but don't get me wrong Sweeney's cool as a pinch hitter.

    Giants pummel Rockies in opener
Schmidt pitches seven scoreless innings for fourth straight win

SAN FRANCISCO -- Ray Durham drove in three runs with a pair of doubles and right-hander Jason Schmidt silenced Colorado's bats on a four-hitter over seven innings in San Francisco's 9-0 victory over the Rockies at AT&T Park on Friday night.
Schmidt (4-2) struck out five in winning his fourth consecutive decision and sending the Rockies to their fourth straight defeat.

Rookie first baseman Travis Ishikawa also singled, hit an RBI double and added another two-run double in the Giants' five-run fifth inning, all the runs coming off losing pitcher Jeff Francis (3-4).

Barry Bonds went 1-for-2 with an RBI single and also was hit by a pitch and walked intentionally.
