Padres Ramon and Astacio offered arbitration

Hammond, Randa, Seanez and Fick weren't, and therefore can't be resigned by the Padres unless they're still available May 1st

I can't believe we didn't offer it to Seanez and Fick......especially since we lost Mark Sweeney

    me either, especially Rudy.

I guess they may have been affraid that the arbitrators would award him too much with how much relievers are signing for and such. Just a guess

Do these teams not have any memory retention from season to season? I mean, if a guy kicked ass for you one season, doesn't it sound to reason they he will do the same the next season? I realize that there is so much more involved however......going back to mid-2004 we have needed a 5th starter. Ummmm, have we ever filled that fifth slot? Not to mention the 4th slot now.....m-e-m-o-r-y- r-e-t-e-n-t-i-o-n-......

    Adam Eaton?

j/k I know what you mean, but I don't see it happening. Next offseason should be more interesting, and quite honestly, I think what they're really doing is trying to put the best team they can together for 2006 while really focusing more on 2007 and beyond.

If you notice, the big contracts they've picked up via trade are both 1 year deals. There will be a lot of money off the books next offseason
