    Peavy with a sore elbow

Padres fans: I would officially be shivering in your trousers.

Sore elbows are about the biggest sign that something really bad has happened, and they raise a whole lot of red flags in my mind. Yes, this may be nothing. But......considering we're talking about Jake Peavy, the coolest guy in all of baseball, I am scared. We will see where this goes, and if there is something more serious or if it's nothing. But the Padres should NOT have let him pitch with this thing his last couple of starts. It's clearly affecting his ability, and it could have been aggravated from nothing to bad by trying to pitch through it. Pulling him from a start should have happened a long time ago.

He's having an MRI today, so I've got my fingers crossed. So should the rest of you.

At least he picked a year when we suck to get injured.

True, but injuries can linger. That's why i'm scared. Then again, he may not be injured at all

The worst case scenario is obviously what none of us want to see, but since I have zero control over the matter I choose to not be worried until we know for sure how bad it is or isn't.

After the information comes out I'll go from there with my concern or lack thereof.

But that's just my nature on pretty much anything, I certainly comprehend what you're saying.

    Update:

Peavy is likely headed to the DL.

Peavy said: "It's not like a normal soreness. That's obviously the reason we're missing the start is because it's not normal. Your arm is sore all the time, but I do feel some of it in the elbow [and] that's always a cause for concern. We don't know how big, but it's always better to be safe than sorry."

    Uh oh...

Even if he misses the whole season it's not like it hurts our playoff chances.

In fact, with the way the season's going, if it's bad I think I'd rather him take the season off to heal and be healthy for next year.
