Padres Jason McLeod named Padres assistant GM

McLeod tapped as Padres executive | padres.com: News

SAN DIEGO -- Boston Red Sox director of amateur scouting Jason McLeod is headed back to his native San Diego.

According to baseball sources, the Padres are set to hire McLeod as their assistant general manager of scouting and player development.

San Diego general manager Jed Hoyer, who worked with McLeod in Boston where he was the assistant general manager, had no comment on Wednesday.

McLeod is no stranger to the Padres. He worked for the team in several positions from 1994 to 2003.
During his time with the Padres, McLeod was an intern, baseball operations assistant, a Minor League coach, assistant director of scouting and player development and later an area scout in Southern California.

I'm sure Josh Byrnes helped find a lot of young talent for the Red Sox, too.

In his latter role, McLeod directed drafts that produced second baseman Dustin Pedroia and center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, among other Red Sox prospects. Four of the past six Red Sox drafts have been ranked among the top five in baseball.
HAMG!!! teH Pedroia's and Ellsbury's are comin' to San Diego!!

The organizational rankings are dazzling, if you forget the other Red Sox prospects (Brandon Moss, Craig Hansen, Nick Hagadone, Justin Masterson, et. al.) stagnated and were dumped for real players that cost too much $$ for small market teams.
