do it up. i'd be all for that. 2 young, unproven pitching specs and a decent outfielder for a young, proven, dominant pitcher we desperately need

I'd be pissed at any Jake-to-the-Yanks deal that doesn't include the name Joba Chamberlain.

i would be too if i were you. and i don't know if i would want to do that....as much as i freakin love Peavy, and i would trade just about anybody to get him, Joba is a star here and he's just getting started. although hank may have already ruined him....we'll find out

I won as many games as Kennedy and Hughes combined this year. Couldn't possibly see the Padres accepting a Kennedy, Hughes and Cabrera deal especially with Cabrera being sent down to the minors this season.

Apparently, one of the AL teams is the LA Angels. According to reports on mlbtraderumors.com, Peavy thinks LA would be the perfect city for him, so he'd welcome a deal to the Angels.

    May as well.

The other one has turned into a debate as to how much a part of LA Anaheim is.

How much a part of the USA is Canada?

I don't think the padres would ever consider a deal like that reefer, but it's just hilarious how that package went from Santana's price tag to probably wouldn't be enough to get Jon Garland or something.

The Santana deal was pretty dumb on the Twins' part.

The Padres would be dumb to not listen to an offer like that. The players mentioned are all needs of the Padres. This is totally different than a Santana deal since Jake is locked up for three more years instead of being a free agent like Santana.

Re: Jake Peavy traded this offseason?

The Newark Star Ledger reports that the Yankees and Padres "have had preliminary discussions" about a Jake Peavy trade.
Peavy has said that he'd prefer to remain in the NL, but his agent indicated that he'd accept a league change to certain AL teams. Expect to hear just about every mid- and high-payroll team in baseball linked to Peavy once the offseason gets underway.
If Joba is not the first person mentioned, Towers should just hang up. Joba could be the heir to the closer's role once Hoffman leaves.
