    Re: Dodgers@Padres 4/4/08-4/6/08

MLB's description of the even is a good one so here you go....

In the fourth inning at PETCO Park and with Rafael Furcal on third base after starting the inning with a triple, Dodgers catcher Russell Martin lifted a popup into foul territory that drifted toward the Padres dugout.

San Diego catcher Josh Bard gave chase and made a sliding catch before he tumbled into the dugout. Bard regained his feet and ran out of the dugout to ensure that Furcal didn't try to score from third on the play.

But that is what happened anyway as, after meeting between the umpires, Furcal was awarded home.

Baseball's official rules state in Rule 7.04(c) that if "a fielder, after having made a legal catch, should fall ... into the dugout or any other out-of-play area while in possession of the ball ... the ball is dead and each runner shall advance one base, without liability to be put out."

    Re: Dodgers@Padres 4/4/08-4/6/08

What bothers me is this.......there is no way he scores on that play no matter what happens.......if it drops its a harmless foul ball.....if it's caught, his only chance is to tag, but Bard caught it and ran out of to make sure Furcal couldn't/didn't tag.......the play should have been over, but that rule alone and nothing else put the Dodgers on the board.

    That's retarded.

So they were punished because Bard lost his balance and fell into the dugout?

Yup.....and it was more than that.....they were punished for Bard making a great play on a ball in fair territory.....it was after he caught the ball that he went into the dugout.....

It's a terrible rule that should be addressed and deleted instantly

    Which predictions? I forget.

Just like to say great game for Peavy! My only knock on him the past few years was that he never goes deep into games and he did just that ON THE SECOND START OF THE YEAR!!! Great job and I hop he keeps it up. He is a joy to watch.

I get so much shit at TNFLF because I joyfully elate that someone who predicted my favorite team to get swept was wrong?

No, the fact that you like to single out us when we are wrong, but when it comes to posters of your favorite team, you give them a free pass.

Why would I single out DK when he predicted the Padres to sweep?

    That makes no sense

You predicted the Padres to get swept, they're not going to get swept, that makes me happy, so I posted about it.

Perhaps you making a big deal out of trivial nonsense is why you no longer have the ability to know how much shit I receive in the TL forum over at TNFLF.

Don't single us for making a false prediction, when others have made false predictions as well, if you gotta problem with our predictions then don't make a ****ing poll.
