Tony Gwynn has just as much blame! forget what happened to trev last night. What right did Tony Gwynn have to make love to his wife and have a kid , give him his name sake teach him how to hit and have him screw the padres with a game tying double two nights ago.

Trevor your alright... I blame you Gwynn!!!!

    Of course...I kid.... I kid.....

if Tony Gwynn Sr. were impotent, the Padres would be in the playoffs right now.

Trevor looked as bad as I've seen him in quite some time. He kept his fastball up in the zone, he wasn't locating his fastball at all. But, you also have to look at how many runners the Padres left in scoring position Monday night, it was quite a few. I think they had 3 straight innings where they had the lead man on, and never got him past 2nd base.

Runners are going to be left on every game, that's the nature of the game.

The only time I complain about runners left on base is when it's consistently done, resulting in a pathetic 1 or 2 run output.

6 runs should be more than enough to win a game, and a 2 run cushion in extra innings should more than seal victory.

Haven't the Padres left runners in scoring position, consistantly, all season long?

    Here's Monday night:

2nd inning: Bard - 1 out single, left on 1st

3rd inning: bases loaded, 1 out, fielder's choice to 2nd, 1 scores, runners left at 1st and 3rd.

5th inning: Adrian Gonzalez lead double, left at 2nd

6th inning: Brady Clark lead single, to 2nd on wild pitch, left on 2nd

7th inning: Adrian Gonzalez, 1 out single, left at 1st

8th inning: Brian Giles, RBI 2-out double, left at 2nd

If that isn't consistant, I don't know what is....

Re: Stop Blaming Trevor! I don't Blame Trevor

My point is, the bottom line is runs. When your offense does their job and scores runs complaining about the runners they left on base is being petty.

Yes they've left runners on base...all teams do that.

Yes they've done it without scoring many runs, if any at all, but that wasn't the case in this particular game.

The offense did their job, they gave the Padres 6 runs, which should be more than enough when Jake Peavy is on the mound.

And then when the Padres pitching couldn't get the job done in 9 innings, they gave them 2 more runs to work with in the 13th inning....and the Padres pitching failed yet again.

Yes, it would have been nice if they got those runners in...but it also would have been nice if Jake didn't give up 6 runs or if Trevor didn't give up 3 when he had a 2 run cushion and only had to get 3 outs.

But, remember, 4 of those 6 Padre runs came from 1 swing of the bat by Adrian Gonzalez. He doesn't hit that grand slam, that game is over in 9 innings, not 13.

I'm trying to understand how this is all on Trevor. Twice, the Padres had runners on 2nd with noone out, a bunt and sac fly gets you two more in those situations and we're not talking about Trevor in the 13th. Look, I was pissed when Trevor blew that game as well and I think Bell should be the lead for the Padres' closer for next season. But let's not put this completely on him shall we.

And if my sister had a dick she'd be my brother.

The bottom line is, the offense did its job.

    It's not all on Trevor.

No loss is ever all on one individual in team sports.

But, with that said, the bulk of the blame goes to Trevor and Jake.

Sure, if the offense scored some more the Padres would have won....but trying to blame them is like looking at the typical Padres 1-0 or 2-1 loss in which the offense is to blame and trying to blame Jake (or whomever the Padres pitcher is) for giving up 1 or 2 runs.

Re: Stop Blaming Trevor! I don't Blame Trevor

I'm not blaming the offense entirely, you missed that part of it. I'm trying to take some of the blame off Trevor and onto the offense for not pushing across those all important "insurance runs".

I was happy with some of the things that have been said by Kevin Towers and Sandy Alderson about what changes need to be made for next season and what positions they need to address.

Also, I hear St. Louis could be asking San Diego for permission to talk to Kevin Towers, so don't be surprised if that comes up, especially with them parting ways with Walt Jockety.

Right now, the Padres are supposed to be one game away from making the World Series.

Is that because they would've traded their entire team to the Rockies for their entire team for the playoffs had they won that game?

Re: Stop Blaming Trevor! I don't Blame Trevor

Had Trevor not blown that game, the Padres are in and the Rockies are out, therefore

    Padres > Rockies

but since the Rockies are beating up on the Dbags, therefore

    Rockies > Dbags

    which means that

    Padres > Rockies > Dbags

    and thus

    Padres > Dbags

    Can't argue with that logic.
