Marcus Giles benched for 3 games

“I hope nobody's expecting me to be happy about it, but it is what it is,” said Giles, the younger brother of right fielder Brian Giles.

“It might be time for Marcus to take a step back to take two forward,” manager Bud Black said. “He's been pressing a little bit over the last number of weeks. I think it's a good time to take a step back and work on a few things that will get him back to where we know he can play.”

Giles is hitting just .237, with four homers and 32 RBIs. His average has dropped 85 points since May 7.

“I hope it makes it better, but I'm sure there's a chance it'll make it worse,” Giles said about the time off. “Who knows? I've never really had three days off before.”

Actually, Indians fans have been whining about Josh Barfield, don't be surprised if they package him in a deal. Can you imagine if the Padres went and got him back.

No thanks.......Antonelli has a chance to be even better......and he's only a year or so away.......what we need is a solid, consistant veteran in here for the next 1+ to hold down the spot, then maybe move to a utility role for a couple years, before taking a position in our FO........

Don't see where Bradley comes in but yeah so far it has been terrible.

Indians fans were complaining about Barfield until May and June when he started really hitting the ball. Hasn't been that good this month though so they might be *****ing again.

Barfield is irrelevant to this discussion as Marcus Giles is rather irrelevant to that trade outcome.

I said this back when Kouz was struggling, I still say it now.

They made the decision to trade Barfield for Kouz and Kouz is succeeding.

If they didn't make the trade the hole would just be at third right now.
