Take off my orange and black glasses? Why not understand how the game is played and won? Umpires don't win or lose ballgames!!!! Plain and simple. No bias here.

I understand perfectly how the game is played.

Umpires call the balls and strikes. 4 balls in an at bat puts a runner on base. 12 balls in 3 straight at bats loads the bases. A pitch down the middle of the strike zone will generally be put into play. When a ball is put into play with the bases loaded it generally scores a run.

When an umpire calls those 12 balls out of frustrated malice you're telling me he's not controlling the outcome?

Clay was rolling until he was forced to throw the ball right down the middle lest his pitch be called a ball.

The batters knew it, too, they weren't swinging at shit.

The umpire did let up in the end of the inning, though.

Clay had 3 balls with the bases loaded and threw a close pitch low...which was called a ball.

I think Emmel (or whatever his name was) didn't want to take it to the point of actually walking in a run. But the damage was done anyways by forcing Clay to throw the next pitch down the middle.

The Padres could've limited the damage by not making the boneheaded play that followed, but that 5th inning was one of the worst displays of horrific umpiring I have ever seen in my life.

5th inning and there was how many opportunities to win the game? The guy wasn't good but it went both ways. Players win and lose ballgames, never umpires and that's the whole point.

How many times do I have to state that the Padres could've overcome anyways, and that they made their own boneheaded mistakes?

There isn't a single team contest that's ever been played on the face of this earth that can be fully blamed on one specific play or event in the contest. Team sports are funny like that.

Of course the Padres could've won despite the Umpire's shenanigans.

But, that doesn't remove the fact that he completely threw off Clay's tempo and practically handed the Giants at least a 3-1 lead, of which Kouz/Greene decided to make 5-1.

And yes, had it not been for the Kouz/Greene pop up muffle, the game would've been tied in the 9th. The Padres own their share of the blame, but the Umpire still sucked major donkey balls in the 5th and I have every right to complain about it...you would too.

So if an umpire forced a Giants pitcher to walk 3 straight batters you wouldn't complain about the Umpire?

Balls and strikes are judgment calls....and you're saying that can't have an effect on the game?

It just baffles me how you can't seem to fathom this concept. Are the Umpires robots? Do you actually believe all strike zones are the same?

No, you don't, you even agreed that the Umpire's calling sucks, You just can't seem to be able to draw the connection to that effecting the game.

Sure I would complain but in no way would I say we lost because of it like you are.

It effects the game but not in a win/loss situation and not when it goes to both sides.

No and don't know where you are getting this shit!

Stp whining already!!! The Giants are 1-5!

    Re: Padres@Giants 4/3/2007-4/5/2007 OPENING SERIES!

If the umpires starting calling all strikes on Bonds I'm sure EVERY Giant fans head would explode. Pitchers shouldn't be reduced to having to throw batting practice if an umpire's overinflated ego gets in the way. That's exactly what happened to Clay to the other day, and the umpire reduced the strikezone to a point that it might as well have been batting practice.

An umpire should be almost invisible, and should NEVER effect the outcome of a game. The umpire in SF, during the game Hensley pitched did, and that's 100% wrong.

Aren't you paying attention to the conversation, pff?

Apparently the umpire's play calling has zero effect on the outcome of the game.

I was paying attention to everything that made sense and was worth reading, not the drivel that would suggest such non-sense like that.

Funny how people who smoke pot can see the simple FACT that it effects nothing if it goes both ways! Everyone gets ****ed!! Players win and lose, not umpires. Play the game sometime and you might know sometthing I love how you people respond without reading shit. Not real objective criticism.

Thats about as moronic a statement as I have heard you say. If it goes both ways and it consistantly sucks it degradates the game and affecs EVERYTHING to include continued lose of fans and revenue. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!
