Padres Hoffman is a Brewer officially

Good luck Trevor.......thanks for the memories.......kick you agent for screwing you out of being able to finish your career in San Diego since you signed essentially the same deal you could have had if he'd even tried to negotiate through the proper channels......

At least you were smart enough not to sign with the Dodgers thus keeping your legacy here intact

If he is going to kick anyone, it should be everyone in the Padres front office for screwing him over. No one to blame but the Padres on this one. They screwed up and Hoffman was not in a forgiving mood. The Brewers are offering $2 million more in base salary plus $1.5 million in incentives. Its not even close to the $4 million with no incentives the Padres offered. Hoffman asked for incentives and got none, Hoffman asked for a meeting and was told to **** off.

At least he didn't go to LA.

Trevor becomes yet another in the long list of hall of famers who played their entire career with one team....except for one year at the end of their career with someone else. (Although, he also has that one year in Flordia to start his.)

Yup. He got ****ed over by the front office. It's really a sad situation, I would have loved to see him finish his career as a Padre. Even as a fan of a completely different team (although Peavy has made me come to love the Padres), it's going to be totally weird seeing him in a Brewer jersey. It will definitely take some getting used to.

The discussion on who's to blame for the Padres and Hoffman discussions was played out a long time ago.

    Get over it, people.

Re: Hoffman is a Brewer officially

Hoffman never asked for incentives.......he simply said to the media that none were included......NO negotiations ever happened between Hoffman and KT or his agent and KT.......none........his agent while Hoffy was on vacation out of the country tried to get a meeting with Moores set up.....and nobody was going to play that game.......

The offer was on the table for a month.........until Giles deadline approached......they had to pull the offer in order to pay Giles..........His agent thought he could hold the FO's feet to the fire and he failed to keep Trevor in San Diego as a result.......Hoffman said many times over he wanted to remain a Padre, and the Padres have said many times they'd love to have him back......there is only one other element here.......the agent

Re: Hoffman is a Brewer officially

Blah blah blah. We have been over this before and I was proven right. Hoffman did say the offer wasn't good enough because it did not include incentives. That was the only reason he didn't accept it and told them that. When the Padres did nothing to that offer that was on the table, Hoffman then asked for a meeting. When he asked, he was told the offer was pulled and that he was not coming back....while he was on vacation. None of this was the dealing of an agent. Hoffman wanted the meeting! It was all the front office's doing. After this happened, Hoffman was extremely pissed at the front office and rightfully so. He had to move on and got a better deal because of it. Nothing close to the deal the Padres offered. PFF, you can go on taking the side of management and be in the minority but I will take the side of Hoffman.

Actually, me, Hoffman, every poster except you and every sportswriter under the sun who has covered the subject were right. Again, you are taking the side of management, I am taking Hoffman's word. Moores' divorce and the failure of the front office is to blame, not Hoffman.

I never go in a room alone with a complete moron! Just a little rule I have. And no, I wasn't wrong for the last time If I am, so is Hoffman and everyone who has covered the subject. I'm willing to bet that isn;t the case.
