I wish the Padres would have traded Linebrink to the Phillies. hahaha. He has been up and down too much for my liking in Milwaukee. Oh well. Life goes on in the big city.

Should have pulled the trigger on this deal.

It's ok, we got some good prospects in return for Linebrink.

    Will Inman

    Steve Garrison

In the meantime, I doubt Rowand would have made much of a difference with how this year has gone.

The Padres would have had a complete OF to start the season and have a CFer locked up. Gonzalez, Kouz and Rowand would have made a good tandem. Better than Winn, Molina and Rowand. It would have made a difference but oh well. I really can;t believe how well Rowand is doing this year.

It might have made a difference, but with the way the bullpen has been performing, and especially had Jake and CY gone down like they did in reality, I doubt it would have made much of one.

As horrible as the OF has been this year it's not the main reason the Padres are losing. That finger is pointed at the pitching, more specifically the bullpen.

Rowand has magical healing powers so CY and Peavy would be OK. Rowand would have helped the offense is really where I'm getting at. Plus having a CFer locked up which I am sure the Pads would have done after trading for him would give the Pads one last worry for next year. But like you said the Pads got some decent spects so no regrets.

Hard to argue that Rowand would not have helped to this point, but not for the deal he got....At least Gerut plays pretty damn good D......so we're not losing games on that side now.....Rowand would have provided offense in what has been a blackhole in the lineup....and would have provided defense for all the games Gerut wasn't starting out there. So yes I think its pretty fair to say he'd have made a difference, whether or not it would have been enough of a difference who knows......but it's amazing what one bat can do to an entire lineup, and what a great glove can do for a pitcher and defense.

Oh and HWood......Henry deemed Inman to be Peavyesque.......so we're good in that trade now

Of course he would have made a difference.

    That much is obvious.

The question isn't whether or not he would have made a difference, the question is how much of a difference would he have made?

I, personally, don't think it would have been enough of one to warrant looking back at it and being sore considering we didn't exactly lose Linebrink for nothing later on.

I probably still would be had we just lost Linebrink to free agency considering Rowand could still be an asset next year.

If we traded Inman tomorrow Henry would make a post talking about how overrated Inman is and how he's glad we traded him while he still had value.

He'd then go on to talk about how whomever we traded him for is going to be a perennial all star.

He would have definitely made a difference last year and would have got the Padres off to a better start this year. Offense has been the main concern this year and the bullpen comes in a close second. The way Linebrink has pitched this year, could make the argument for not keeping him now

The offense pretty much sucked last year as well, but it wasn't until the bullpen collapsed that the team started spiraling towards the basement.

Can't have had Linebrink and Rowand, though.
