Burrell has been too inconsistent, I say pass.

To be honest, if the Padres were going to trade Linebrink, they would have traded him to Atlanta for Marcus Giles, now that seems off the table as well. I think we better get used to the idea of seeing Linebrink in a Padres uni next season.

You can add Nomar to the list of "unavailable", he's going to sign, what looks to be, a 2 year deal with the Dodgers.

Reefer, I think he meant a year, though I don't exactly know Burrell's numbers, I think his contract comes out to $9-$10m/year. Correct me if that's not right.

Looks like he might be a Giant's issue anyway.....lol.....perfect

Pat Burrell's agent told the San Jose Mercury News the outfielder would be interested in waiving his no-trade clause for a move to the Giants to play first base next season. Burrell had said the Yankees or the Red Sox would be the only places he would waive his no-trade for. Burrell has a chronic foot probably that seriously affected his ability to roam in left field. "He's more athletic than a lot of first basemen I've seen," Phils manager Charlie Manuel told the paper. "He'd be fine over there." Closer Armando Benitez, owed $7.6 million next year, is a possible bargaining chip, because the Phillies want options in their bullpen. Benitez told trainer Dave Groeschner his right-knee rehab is going well. "It's an arthritic knee so anything can change, but we're pleased with his progress," Groeschner told the paper.

Burrell was payed 9.75 mil last year. I couldn't find (for conformation purposes) what he's due for the remainder of his contract, but i'm going to assume LTR is correct.

It's a mundane debate, anyways, because for all intents and purposes the bottom line is that he'd be payed too much for what he'd most likely produce at PetCo. (I've changed my mind on him after looking up his stats and realizing that he's already 30)

    Padres

I was only a fan of Burrell as far as Fantasy Baseball is concerned. Should we be concerned with the front office really not making any noise in the free agent market or are they laying low?
