No matter where you go people will disagree with something you say.

I doubt there are two people anywhere on this Earth that agree with every single one of the other's opinions.

It's just that, for some odd reason, I thought you'd disagree with this trade.

For me it's not that I don't like the trading of Barfield.......but I think we didn't get nearly enough for him.....So unless Kouz turns into the next Wright, and Balsey signs and fixes Browns control issues.......we got hosed......

I don't think Kouz has to be the next David Wright, because that implies Josh Barfield is as good as David Wright, which he most certainly is not.

edit: It actually implies Barfield is BETTER than David Wright, considering we got more than just Kouz for him.

Any other year Barfield would have been right up there in the ROY voting. No one can justify trading someone like that. Andno one can justify that Giles is somehow faster that Barfield. Its quite clear that Barfield is more athletic than Giles. And OBB, for the last time, Giles is not a leadoff man. You want one, resign Roberts. No one ever said Barfield was ever leadoff man material so quit bringing it up. Barfield apparently likes the trade since he calls himself an AL guy.

Hwood.....do you think you could argue that Barfiled was as good for his position as Wright was at his ? I know its easier to find a 3bag than a 2bag.....lets get passed that.......I'm just suggesting the same thing as Reefer ( god help me ) .....that trading a ROY candidate for two unprovens might have been underselling Barfield slightly.....unless one of those two unprovens turns out to be a stud......

I'm still of zero opinion on the Barfield trade until I see who they replace him with.

But I will say that being ROY "any other year" doesn't make him untradable.

The Dodgers aren't hurting from losing Todd Hollandsworth...

Terrance Long was 2nd in ROY voting to Ichiro, nobody misses him..

I'm obviously not comparing Josh to either of them, simply making a point that being a ROY, or even in the voting, doesn't neccesarily equate to a superstar career.

And no, Barfield is not the equivilent to David Wright at his position.

Hey, if the Giants were making news I would be talking about them but sadlt they aren't. As a baseball fan I hate this trade because it just doesn't make sense. The Pads would have had a good, cheap middle infield for years to come and would have been fun to watch. Its like if the Giants traded Matt Cain for two unproven prospects and one that was older than Cain.

Hollandsworth played for LA for years after winning the ROY. Long did the same with Oakland.

The thing is, though, you're making it like they just traded him for two prospects and are leaving it at that.

If that was the case I'd be more than just mad, I'd be livid.

It's pretty obvious, at least to me, that they have intentions on bringing someone in to play 2nd base....and with those intensions they realized Barfield was expendable.

I'm waiting till I see who this guy is before I go on a tirade for losing Barfield.

    That's besides the point.

How did they fare after their rookie campaigns?

I wasn't suggesting that Barfield was 'untradeable' I was suggesting that we undersold him......I don't have a problem with the trade of Barfield, but unless these two guys pan out to be studs, I have a problem for how much we traded him for......

Kouz is 2 years older, been injured, and his defense is considered so so....
Brown has a big ceiling but also has control issues, and if we lose Balsey who will wave their magic wand to fix him.....

Also filling the hole at 2nd with a stud, doesn't mean that this trade was ok, if either of the guys we traded for don't pan out......it means it was a bad trade, and we covered it up by signing a quality 2bag is all

Ok I get your point now. So if you get Giles to replace Barfield you will be happy?

San Diego Union-Tribune (scroll down): "Before Towers resumed his quest for a power-hitting corner outfielder and revisited plans for Barfield's successor – early candidates at second are free agents Craig Counsell and Nomar Garciaparra and the Braves' Marcus Giles – he broke the news to Barfield, who was eating breakfast in San Diego."
Didn't know if you guys saw this or not.

Barfield IMO > Giles........so I wouldn't be........especially when the nightmare of having Giles leadoff would be a reality
