Because I don't think he's going to be solid when the time comes.....and I also know that solid doesn't win games for this team......see yesterdays game

    - What makes you think he won't be solid when the time comes when he's been solid all year? And don't say it's because of the competition he'll be facing, because Woody just shat out his 2nd solid performance against the Mets this year.
15 innings, 3 ERs....not too bad if you ask me.

    - Yesterday's game was more on the offense and their lack of ability to score runs. If the offense plays like they did yesterday in the playoffs it wouldn't matter if we had a rotation of Francisco Liriano, Pedro Martinez, Johan Santana, and Barry Zito, I still wouldn't like our chances.

Team batting .266 w/ RISP pretty much sums it all up. There is zero clutch hitting on this team.

On top of that, give 9 of 10 opposing runners a free pass to second base. It takes all their pitching and great defense just to maintain .500 play.

This is why it's going to take more than solid pitching to win.... I've never once said I don't want Woody in the rotation. In fact he is a great #4 or #5....sadly we're running him out there as our #3....and we're not strong enough if he's our #3....

Now I will say this......if this offense wasn't inept, then sure he might be fine, but we can't score enough to win just solid outtings

Have my crow ready.......I said multiple times I'd eat it.........I said that at the beginning of the season, and maintain that we don't have enough pitching....

The offense has shown they're capable of getting their heads out of their asses. They have the ability to get the job done, they just don't always do it.

If they do what they're capable of doing in the postseason then Woody will be more than adaquate.

If they don't....well they don't deserve to win anyways.

Look, the bottom line is this offense has NOT been getting it done this year. It's really that simple. I wonder if someone can put something together to show how many times our starts have given up 2 runs or less and have still lost the game. This team needs to learn how to win at home, because having a record under .500 at home isn't going to win you the division.
