Too bad it came against the Braves ace Smoltz. 16 k's and just 1 BB is awesome! This one goes under Peavy getting screwed.

16 K's and 1 BB is good enough to get a Dodgers hitting coach canned. But yeah, how could Peavy not get the W for that?

the only thing that made today's game worth attending.

    I just got home.

They were 3 feet away from Trevor time.

His 16 K's were meaningless, considering the outcome of the game.

not meaningless...........just went to waste..........he pulled within 5 of the ML leader with those 16........he could make another run at the K title and not have a totally lost season......should he never win again

A franchise record isn't exactly meaningless Reds....if it were, guys like Chipper Jones and John Smoltz wouldn't have been talking about it after the game. They both went out of their way to comment on how well Peavy was pitching last night. So, apparently 2 future Hall of Famers disagree with your opinion.

Oddly enough, today they posted the last 6 guys to post 15+ Ks in a game and all but one of them lost the game.

also, pointed out at the UT, in all reality Jake tied the club record...except for that they keep postseason stats seperate.

Kevin Brown tossed 16Ks in a game in the playoffs in 1998

I would really have liked to see him allowed to go 8.......I'm getting so sick to death of "pitch counts" when guys aren't in jeopardy during a game.....the excuse of "pitch count" is being used far too often IMO......If a guy isn't in trouble and he's clearly wrecking the opponent.....uh.....let him continue....just a thought
