At most you'll get some 25 year old prospect who used to be highly touted, but he's been in the system for a few years and hasn't been impressing anyone with his lackluster play, so they give up on him and trade him for Doug Mirabelli cuz they need a back up catcher.
Well I'd rather take a shot at a prospect that doesn't seem to be panning out for someone else like a Leone or Dave Roberts who was a career minor leaguer until the Dodgers tripped over him.........neither was ever considered a top prospect, and there are 100's of guys in the minors just waiting to be discovered like them..........one thing is for sure...... Bellhorn is horrible, so either release him outright or try and dump him for a hidden gem.....at least the latter is a shot in the dark at good things.......out right releasing him gets you nothing in return at all

for all intensive purposes for this debate they have 2, one of those was inside the park.

    Padres

Here's a stat for you to look up Leo....how many HR's have opponents hit at Petco Park and how many have the Padres hit? If I remember correctly, Rockies and Mets combine for 11, the Padres I believe have 2(Greene, Piazza at 1 each).

This was part of the debate last year............ how vastly out homered we were at home......... people try to say that Petco is tough to hit HR's in, but visiting teams don't seem to have that much difficulty........clearly it's not AZ or Cinn........however we are the team that suffers the most from the lack of true power hitters ......or so it would seem

    Padres

If it's such a pitchers park, how the hell are we being outhomered 11-2 in our own place?

    that's irrelevant.

All that tells you is that other teams have better power hitters than the Padres as they hit more home runs in the same venue

what you want to look at is how many HRs opposing teams hit in PetCo as comapred to how many HRs opposing teams hit in other stadiums.

The last two years PetCo has been near the bottom of that list.

When you're trying to see how well a HR can be hit out of a park you don't compare the park to itself you compare it to other parks.

this is true and something I won't argue against....it also has nothing to do with whether or not PetCo is hard to hit HRs at as compared to other stdiums.

an interesting notion is the wall being moved in this year.

I don't know how many HRs went to that area (Delgado's did) but it might have something to do with it if the #s go up
