Woody's breaking out the knuckleball now.

When Williams takes the ball on Tuesday night in Miami, where the Friars open a nine-game road swing against the Marlins, he'll do so with a weapon that no longer is a secret: a knuckleball so wicked, Doug Mirabelli, Tim Wakefield's personal catcher in Boston, has had trouble handling.
"He couldn't catch it -- he says it's harder than Wakefield's," Williams said Saturday night.
Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Douggie better start getting a better handle on the thing.

    Smoltzie threw knuckleballs in ST.

I think the knuckler is making a comeback amongst older pitchers.

I bet this experiment fails. Miserably.

Well, I'm taking RA Dickey pre-knuckler every time, haha. Definitely hurt him to switch to it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Woody didn't look all that bad in his first outing. I heard Boch this morning say that he could put Brian Sweeney or Clay Hensley into the starting rotation in Brazelton's spot.

I would love to see Brian Sweeney get a chance to start. I think he would be a really good young starter.

I would love to see Brian get a start, I think he's got definite starter capability.

Now that Mirabelli's gone, I'd just like to point out that Woody's starts haven't even been caught by Mirabelli at all ... twice by Piazza and once by Bowen.
