Beard would have had a much bigger offer if he wasn't so picky. A lot of teams were rejected by the beard.

I'm glad he went cheap though, worse talent is getting more than him and he's only 27. I am sad, however, cause Haf beats me by 1.whatever million. Beard tempts the rivalry!

I was definitely surprised when I read my intial 4 million was "best offer", so I pumped it up a few million more.

What is good, for me, though, is that he was terrible with the cubs. Which makes me think it's very likely I kicked his ass many times over. Optimism!

That's the good thing about that contract. Cheap deal for the ratings and potential, and also low risk. You don't have 40-50 million tied in one guy, in the event he continues to suck.

Just keep him in the closet when Barbosa&Bemudez roll around.
