News S3SL Loophole Week: Deadline 7/20 at 8 PM EST

If you follow the international scene, you might recall the Reds essentially found a loophole to sign Dominican super stud prospect Juan Duran before the international signing period. Well, this is based on the same premise. This week, all teams are eligible to enter in drafting one of two franchise defining players, but unlike Duran, they are 100% developed and ready for MLB player.

    The players are:
C/SS/CF Javier "The Mustache" Barbosa (17 years old)- 8-10-10-9-8, full speed, top notch range, and can play any position up the middle.
SP Amador "The Bull" Ramirez (18 years old)- 10-9-10, 10 endurance, a lefty, multiple pitches, 98-100mph velocity

Here is the catch with both though, no matter what they sign to, I will edit both contracts to be 10 years at 9 mil a season. When you consider the signing bonuses, the fact several of those years would have been cheap due to arbitration and so on... I think for the talent, the age, etc, it's a fair deal.

And secondly, both have a complete no trade clause in their deal until 2034.

    ----

This is how it will work. If you want to be eligible to participate, you will need to create 10 quality threads by the deadline date and time. These would need to be threads that involve some thought from you and would hopefully encourage discussion from others. All created threads must be made in one of the baseball forums (so no sim leagues or off-topic forums.)

You can however skip out on three threads if you make at least 30 posts in the ASG discussion thread that someone will make tomorrow. So if you make 30 posts while watching the game and discussing it there, you would need only 7 threads elsewhere.

As an added incentive, if you have had a team who has been below .500 for two seasons in a row and you participate, I will double your team's odds. Like I said, I would like for these players to be franchise makers so I want the smaller teams to feel encouraged to participate.

    *end wall of text*

    Summary
1.) All teams are allowed to participate.
2.) To enter, you need either to create 10 threads in the baseball or team forums, or 7 threads plus 30 posts on an ASG discussion thread.
3.) Teams who enter will be randomly selected. The first team will have first pick and the second team will be left with whoever was not selected of the two.
4.) Teams who are below .500 will have two entries in the selection, to double their chances.
5.) All teams who enter must have at least 9 million dollars in FA cash to cover the first contract year.
6.) Contracts for both players will be 10 years at 9 million dollars per.
7.) Both players cannot be traded until the 2034 season, no exceptions.

Answering two questions that came via PM:

1.) If you want to do an article instead of a thread, sure. But we do have a certain standard for that so I would only recommend doing one article to count as one thread in this case.
2.) If the prospects die, that's part of the risk and it figured into the contract cost I determined. If they stay healthy and talented, they are huge bargains. If they die, that is part of the risk and it does happen in OOTP so you'll have to deal with it.

    Another question via PM.

Feel free to make your team post here, with or without the necessary threads. I will only check all of this after the deadline has been met so you guys can just secure your spot and edit your post as you go.

I realize I'm a few minutes over the deadline. I hope I can get an exception... but if not, I understand. Had a lot on my plate today but I've tried to be active on the boards and make some thought-provoking posts to take part in this, and will try to post more often either way.

Re: S3SL Loophole Week: Deadline 7/20 at 8 PM EST

I feel with nick's confusion on the cash that I was not clear enough, therefore I am extending the deadline for a bit. nick, you need to have 9 million in FA cash to sign either player, if you send a trade in by the deadline that will free this up, you will be able to enter.

If anyone else needs to do anything, now is the time. I won't be on much or at all, so I hope all is cleared up.

Also, this is how I will pick the teams. I will numbers by order of post, so team 1 would get 1 and 2 if a sub-.500 team and so on. I will then use a random number generator with the ending parameter being the final number, select two and post them here. Selection will occur by the two teams and then I will sign the players, upload the site.

    Drum roll please.....

Pirates get first selection, then the Twins. The odds were pretty even, it's a shame more teams didn't try for it but I am glad several of the teams who needed the talent did.

Post who you want Zito. Then Slyder will have to confirm if he wants number two, if not, I will go to the next number on my list.

Perhaps the day when Minnesota quits tanking, they'll get to take advantage of the guy.

I'm taking a chance and going with the super 5 tool man, CF Javier Barbosa.

Darn you KoZ thats who I wanted .

I will take SP Amador "The Bull" Ramirez. Easily worth the money and I could always try and trade some of the other pitchers for needs.
