    I offered Serra 4.1M for 3 years.

I would have offered McBride and Faria 18-20M if they liked my org. Oh well...

Players take lower offers as we've seen in the past (this and other leagues.) And whether it's coincidence or not, it seems like often with past teams.

Yeah, the players often take lower offers for no apparent reason.

I can definitely see Philly being passed over for a obvious contender...

Nah, being a contender has nothing to do with it from my experience. If they like your organization, it's an even field.

I know that a while ago, I was trying sign a good, aging OF (Tyler Sabb) and a good, aging RP (K-Rod). I got Sabb, even though Houston offered a lot more. Chicago got K-Rod, although I offered a little more. And Houston got a player Chicago was going for with a lower offer too.

Faria, McBride, Sanchez, and the return of Serra = a very good off-season for the Padres. My guess for them taking less is the fact the Padres won 101 games. A few seasons ago when the Pads were horrible. I remember giving more money to guys and getting passed over by them.

    I didn't overpay and I wasn't going to.

Maybe I'll get something better next year...
