Blanton led all A.L. rookies in wins and innings pitched (43.2) during the month of June, going 5-1 with a 2.06 ERA. The 24-year-old right hander pitched at least six innings in each of his six starts last month collecting 28 strikeouts with just nine walks.

Blanton's getting really good already, that sucks for anyone who isn't an A's fan.

Oh, BTW, you guys can start to suck again anytime now, longer times like this could mean competing for a WC spot, and while I'd love to rub it in the faces of the doubters of Beane, that means the Sox could be knocked out before it starts, and that's never fun.

If they can't fix this pen problem, the Yankees or Orioles will take them over and then a team from the West or Central will win the WC.

I don't expect us to make the playoffs this year...we're playing where we probably should be (around .500). We started really bad and now are playing really well...we're not going to continue to win every 9 out of 10 games

but look out next year and beyond...
