    A's A's @ M's; 3-game set

Ok so again, no official game thread. Life's hectic, what can I say.

Hokay, so right now it's tied at 0-0. But the big news has nothing to do with tonite's game. Here's the news...

Starters Gallagher AND Duke have been placed on the 15-day DL.

I'm serious. They're gone. For two-plus weeks. So now we have an all-lefty rotation. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse...

First all lefty rotation since Vida Blue, Ken Holtzman, Paul Lindblad and Darold Knowles were a four-man unit in 1973. I think it will be neat to watch.

Nice info reefer. Wow that's a long time...I agree it should be neat to watch. It'd be even neater if they fare well.

    Still 0-0 in the fourth.

Ok so now it's 2-0 us in the bottom of the ninth. The two runs came in the 6th and the 9th, and they were off the bats of Brown and Gonzalez, respectively. Ziggy is in for his second and also for the save.

Woohoo we held on to win yesterday's game. Hopefully we can keep it up and win tonite's game too. We have rookie Gio Gonzalez going for us this evening. He had an awful start in Oakland, but he's looking to rebound (which he should...at least I hope he does). Other game tidbits - yesterday rookie Carlos Gonzalez broke an 0-for-23 slump with an RBI single in the ninth...Emil Brown's homer in the fourth extended his hitting to five games...Kurt Suzuki went 2-for-4 yesterday. It was his 31st multi-hit game of the season, and he's hitting .314 since the break. Not too shabby if you ask me.

Im going to the game on Sunday. But this is going to be a pathetic series but someone has to win.

For sure it's a pathetic series. We're both playing to avoid further embarrassig ourselves, if you don't mind me saying so. Have fun at the game regardless.

I don't think it would be any worse for the Mariners.

Ok so initially we were leading 1-0 on a Rajai Davis home run, but then Gonzalez coughed up four runs (and consequently the lead) in the next half inning. So now it's 4-1 M's in the top of the sixth.

Ok well now we're down by only one run. Thomas was HBP to start the inning, and then blah blah blah Gonzalez comes up and grounds into a force out, which scores Thomas. So runners at the corners now. And then Barton singles, scoring Suzuki from third. Pitching change! So now it's runners at second and third w/Pennington at the plate.

And then Pennington singles. Both Gonzalez and Barton score. 5-4 A's lead. Woot woot.

Arrrrg Suzuki (Ichico) grounds out but brings home the tying run. 5 all in the seventh.

For those who care, we lost. Again. 7 to 5. Blevins with the L. Thomas is now 2-for-23 or something like that. Nothing else to say.

I take that back. Cust and Ellie both left tonite's game early, suffering from blurred vision and a sore shoulder, respectively. Please God, have mercy. Don't let them land on the DL.

Yawn. Mariners offense falls asleep, Lose 5-1. Eveland threw a 5 hit gem over 7.
