    A's A's vs Angels; 3-game set

So we lost yesterday 3-1. I was at the game (and got a kick ass Suzuki bobble-head) but we lost. The only real highlight was the homer by Cust in like the seventh inning. Here's the rest series:

    6-7-08
    Garland vs Smith

After a great May, Garland struggled to get through five innings while allowing three runs against the Jays. The A's knocked him around when we faced him earlier, but we lost the game. Garland is 3-9 in 14 career starts against the A's, but he really hasn't pitched all that bad (3.86 ERA). Smith had his worst outing by far last Sunday against the Rangers, when he allowed seven runs in five innings. He was more unlucky than anything, because many of the hits were bloops that just eluded the fielders. Smith's best asset is his control on the running game, which will be key in this game and the rest of the series.

    6-8-08
    Santana vs Harden

Santana had another solid outing, going 7 2/3 while allowing 2 runs in a winning effort against the Mariners. He's 8-1 in 11 career outings against the A's, and he is looking to build upon that. Harden got his second straight no-decision, despite pitching seven strong innings while allowing only 2 runs. Harden did not face the Angels at all last year, but is 5-3 in his career with a 3.95 ERA and looks to finally get a (winning) decision.

So we lost game on 3-1. The Angels didn't run at all yesterday. Blanton allowed a leadoff homerun to Izturis, which set the tone for the game. Hopefully we can get a win tonite and even up the series. I'll be there, so look for me in the LF bleachers with the rest of my gang.

Yeah it should be. Tonite's should be good too. It doesn't sound all too exciting on paper, but it looks exciting nonetheless.

Harden and Santana should be a great match-up. I hope that the A's can win this one because Harden deserves the best as he is a class act.

Yesterday's game was very frustrating. We got to having the winning run at the plate, but then K-Rod shut the door like he has to so many other teams. We better be looking for revenge now. We need a win badly.

3 - 3 headed into the 12th inning. Harden went 6 innings giving up 3 earned runs, 6 hits, 3 walks, and 9 k's. Chavez has 2 RBIs and Gonzalez knocked in the other run. He got his first hit that wasn't a double...7 doubles and 1 single now.

Grand Slam in the bottom of the 12th by Mark Ellis. A's win the finale 7-4.

Hopefully this will get Ellis' bat going. He has really struggled this year.

Re: A's vs Angels; 3-game set

That game was SO COOL! I was sitting there in LF and just about jumped outta my chair when it hit off the foul pole. There's only a few things that I love more than a walk-off win. It was amazing.

Other game notes - Harden had 9Ks while allowing 3 runs in 6 or so innings. He gets his third ND in a row...Crosby rolled on his right ankle and apparently sprained it. Hopefully it won't sideline him for long (if at all?) because we really need his presence in our lineup. Brown was activated from the DL, while Mark Sweeney apparently needs surgery to repair his knee...hopefully he'll recover soon too because we miss his bat also.

apparently, Harden struck out the side in the 1st inning on 9 pitches. That's the first time for the A's since Left Grove in 1928
