    Byrnes tackles a fan?

I must have missed this, but from the A's site:

Prior to the game, manager Ken Macha said he still hadn't spoken to outfielder Eric Byrnes, who tackled a trespassing fan Sunday and, after hearing that Macha disapproved, said, "I don't really care what he says." Macha called Byrnes' comments "ill-advised" and added, "I'm not gonna play this newspaper game with him. I'll talk to him today or tomorrow." Byrnes was not in the lineup despite being 3-for-7 on the homestand through Sunday and 12-for-36 (.333) with four doubles and two homers over his previous 10 games....
Seems Byrnes might think he is on his way out and maybe that's why he doesn't care and said whatever? who knows...did any of you see this happen?

I didn't see it, I read about it.

Looks like Macha is making him pay for those comments by not playing him. I really hope this doesn't blow up into something that gets out of control.

In spite of that bonehead play in the 2003 ALDS (missing home plate in a collision with Varitek and proceeding to shove Tek a bit and then walk back to the dugout as Varitek tags him), I love Eric Byrnes as a player. He goes all out and he's flat-out exciting, and I really don't see the problem with getting the guy down from the fence. If he interferes with gameplay, he's fairgame IMO (as was the casino guy that Matt Chatham flattened in Super Bowl 38).

Why does Macha even care what Brynes has to say? Brynes voiced his opinion and that's that. The A's have bigger fish to fry than worry about that.
