    Another gem by Billy Beane.
Why even acquire Kendall when the A's were going to dump Hudson and Mulder?

    Exactly.

As much as I like Kendall, we didn't need him. All you need is a decent catcher. Offense is a bonus. We could have re-signed Miller, he got the job done for the most part last season. For a small market team, I don't feel like we needed to trade for someone making so much money (and I know we're not paying all the contract but still).

This is completely off-topic, but I have to say something.

I love reading the San Jose Mercury News. The sports section of the paper is beautiful.

I go to this site call Sports Front Exchange at http://www.rogersimmons.com/sportsfront/

I go there to read the the layout and design of the sports section in a paper format. Really nice.

    Here is a good example:

One of the things I do at my job is to organize the papers so I tend to read the sports section a lot just for the design and all. I have been obessed with the sports section of every paper in the country and I am glad this site came out. San Jose Mercury News is one of the best papers in the country.

It didn't work when I tried to view the LA Times' Tuesday paper.

realmofo: The LA Times have yet to be updated since last week. Roger Simmons is on vacation apparently so he hasn't gotten the paper from the LA Times. Some papers are updated automatically like the Orlando Sentinel, San Jose Mercury News, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and etc. Normally, those sports editors of each paper gives the sports section of their paper to Simmons and Simmons display on Adobe Acrobat.

BTW, you folks need Adobe Acrobat to view the sports section.

I hope the Newark Star-Ledger (which I buy everyday) eventually is in that site. That newspaper has a great sports section design.

The LA Times sports section of the newspaper is not that bad BTW.

The Tuesday paper is updated in that site I showed you. It features Larry Brown in that site.

ABG: I normally read the Mercury News to read about the Bay Area teams. I always was fascinated about the paper with the front page version. It's good to see the sports section now.

realmofo: Well it depends on the paper. If the paper did not update its files, there is nothing you can do.

    From the A's site:

Eric Chavez has been on a tear, batting .379 with 10 doubles, seven homers and 21 RBIs in June.

    From the A's site:

Blanton and Haren were solid early in the year, struggled in late April and May, and bounced back huge in June. Both pitchers won five games in the month, becoming the first A's pitchers to do so since Hudson pulled it off in 2003.

The pitching staff as a whole posted a 2.83 ERA in June, the best in the Majors.

I unstuck all of the minor league threads, but I update the standings in each thread just about every single day. I'll post any news related to each specific team periodically.
