Thread: Mariano Rivera

  1. #1

    Yankees Mariano Rivera

In case you guys didn't k now, Rivera is approaching a milestone, his 500th career save. Last night MO picked up his 498th career save and he did it in impressive fashion by striking out the only 4 batters he faced. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure only one person even got a piece of the ball. This should be an exciting couple of games to see if MO can get number 500. Certainly an impressive milestone.

Also, MO had to bat last night. It was pretty hilarious and he actually got a good piece of it. Unfortunately it was hit right to the center fielder.

Mo just picked up his 500th career save tonight. I think he has something left in his tank.

He has a new career ahead of him in hitting. Or walking, rather

KROD can't even get out Rivera, what a bum. It was great to see MO get to number 500 last night. It was also nice to see his teammates excitement as well.

I think you might be going a little far with that. As AWFUL as walking Rivera was, I wouldn't call K-Rod a bum....just a guy with mediocre control. And he was stupid in being too "fine" with Rivera the first two pitches of the at bat. But I wouldn't call him a bum for it....

Rivera gave that one a great hack, like he just missed it. It caused K-Rod to overthrow the fastball on 2-2 and then missed with the offspeed pitch on 3-2... it happens, but Mo can hit

I think bum is an accurate term for him.

I guess that does diminish the achievement. Maybe we should wait until he faces a "major league" roster again?
    Just kidding Mets fans.
Seriously, there are only 2 pitchers in the history of baseball with 500 or more saves. Mo and Trevor Hoffman lead the way.

Congrats to Mo for picking up his 500th save and his first career RBI. Also, Wang picked up his first win!

Mets fans? on this site there's really just me. Haha.

And I swear, the Phillies' and Marlins' team planes could crash into each other mid-flight, and the Mets would still miss the playoffs this year. They just find ways to lose.
