Injury Nady might be done for the year

    Per LoHud Yankees Blog:
BREAKING NEWS UPDATE, 12:55 p.m.: Nothing official yet, but the word is that Xavier Nady will need surgery and miss the season.
Damn. This isn't as big a blow as it seems on one hand, since Swisher is better...but this kills the depth. Get used to a lot of Melky Cabrera, especially since Matsui can't play the field until June and Posada is eating up the DH spot. Ugh.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Oy this is a pretty big blow IMO. Nady was needed for depth. I would say expect some kind of signing by the Yanks

Yeah, and I don't exactly think Swisher is better than Nady. Although Swisher can't miss right now, it won't last long, and the Yankees will miss the consistent (when healthy) Xavier Nady.

Another huge blow for the Yankees, the fact that Swisher can hit for 1 week, means he'll go another 4 without hitting a single baseball out of the infield. Considering the lack of people who can run in the outfield already this is another big blow.

This was the one guy I didn't expect to get hurt. If this is true then it is a huge blow to the Yankees and will probably spark a trade, maybe a Josh Willingham or another OFer rotting on a bench somewhere. While Swisher has been red hot, Nady was hitting a comfortable .286 with four runs scored. They either make a trade or Cabrera comes back up.

You guys are really hating on Swisher. While I know he'll come down to earth eventually, he's not as bad as you guys make him out to be. He's got a ton of confidence right now and he's going to carry this for longer than all you think. He's going to be solid this year. Last year was a fluke because he wasn't playing the right position.

News flash, Swisher in RF is still not the right position. News flash, Swisher last season wasn't far off from his normal numbers.

Too bad he has to play somewhere in the field. Pick one of the 9. Matsui is permanent DH until June

Looks like either Juan Miranda or Kevin Russo are going to get called up when Nady goes on the DL tomorrow, according to Peter Abraham.

Miranda sucked last year in AAA, but is off to a very hot start this year. Austin Jackson was asked about by Abraham, but Girardi said it's more important he plays every day in AAA than ride the bench. I agree, but at some point he has to come up, and why not get him some experience now. He won't be riding the bench that much, as Nady got a lot of playing time as it was.

If I were forced to choose, it would be LF because he doesn't have a great arm. Kind of why Damon is in LF.

I don't dislike Swisher. I just think Nady is better. Although Swisher usually sports a really nice OBP, similar to Adam Dunn minus a little power.

Knew I would get you to jump on the Swisher bandwagon eventually.
