    Free Agent Centerfield

Now that youve bought the 4 biggest names on the market now its time to give back to the rest of the league. Do Cincinnati Reds fans a HUGE favor and sign Willy Tavares please. Keep the instruments of his own demise out of Duhhhsty's reach.

They already have Swisher, Melky, and Brett Gardner to play center, probably not gonna happen.

Lowe would be a great SU guy for 13 mil get the ball to Mo the Yanks need that

Milton Bradley can be on the bench too to get hurt when the Yanks need him to play for Damon or Matsui

Randy Wolf can be the situational lefty outta the bullpen

Varitek can be the catching coach/player

and Oliver Perez can be the mop-up guy

I'm all for putting Swisher in CF. Despite his down year last year I want his bat in the lineup

No reason for the Yankees to waste more money bringing in Taveras, no matter how cheap he comes.

No doubt that Swisher in CF, their outfield defense will be horrendous, but he's mediocre enough that he fills the need, and provides enough pop that they might not have a better option.

He played decent last year, he can do it again.

4 errors in 70 games (.972 Fielding %), I'll take that any day.
He had a range factor a bit lower than league average, but really, the Yankees can't go out and make the PERFECT team, every team has to deal with negatives somewhere. They're taking a hit in outfield range the next few years. I'm ok with that

    Re: Centerfield

Their plan is to outslug enough teams to make up for their poor defense in the outfield. It may work, it may not. I think Swisher is the least of their worries, if Damon and Matsui will have to be splitting duty in LF, that will be a tough outfield to watch.

No one has said that more than me so i don;t have to be told that. I am just saying that if the Yankees are relying on him to be the main CFer, that's a drawback. He isn't very fast and is an average OFer, below average CFer. Plus his bat isn't that great either. The Yankees just got all this good pitching now. Why help waste it with bad OF defense? Yankees need to focus on finding a CFer and keeping Swisher on the bench.

Even the Yankees will find it tough to sit a 6.5 million dollar man on the bench, though.
