    You value average too much.

    OBP, SLG, OPS...all better indicators.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Right...who cares how well he hits...

All that matters is that when he hits, he hits bombs.

    That's what SLG is.

Give me AVG over SLG...OBP takes AVG into effect

That's not what SLG is. SLG is about total bases. Want to talk about how well someone hits? Cameron hit at the Major League level all year, Cabrera didn't.

Mike Cameron is washed up, Melky is in his low 20s.

Melky will only get better, Cameron will only get worse

Except from 2007 to 2008, when he regressed.

Umm, it's called the fact that they're gonna sign Burnett. Even financially idiotic Hank isn't gonna sign 3 pitchers to 15+ million dollar deals, or 4 with Pettite.

I heard that they would sign CC, Lowe OR Burnett, and then Pettite.

    By Jayson Stark

Despite rumblings that the Yankees would back off their pursuit of Derek Lowe if they can sign A.J. Burnett, the Yanks would remain interested in Lowe in any case, according to a baseball official familiar with the team's plans. The Yankees remain determined to add two starters from the group that includes Burnett, Lowe, Andy Pettitte and Ben Sheets. And while they would prefer that one of those starters be a pitcher they can sign for just a year or two (i.e., Pettitte or Sheets), they have not ruled out signing both Burnett and Lowe.

They haven't ruled it out, but they clearly would much rather not. They also haven't ruled out trading A-rod and prospects for Babe Ruth's corpse....

Cameron washed up > Cabrera. Cabrera is a 4th OFer anywhere else. Cameron would still be a starter.

Cameron also posted the 7th highest OPS out of all CF'ers last year, missing out on 6th by .001. He'll be an excellent stop gap until Action Jackson is ready.

His RZR (zone) is roughly the same as Melky's, and he's above average offensively, which is great for a CF'er. It's not like it's a long term deal we're talking about.

    Welcome Sisyphus!

Agreed on Cameron...people need to realize that the guy is probably here for a season. No more. I'll be surprised if Melky really ends up being better than Gardner and Jackson, so why keep him around as well?
