Yankees to announce $800 million ballpark

The team has spent years planning the new stadium, which will have a capacity of at least 50,800 -- approximately 6,000 seats fewer than the current ballpark -- but could be expanded to about 54,000. It would be constructed in Macombs Dam Park, to the north of the current stadium, and financed by the team.

No. The Yankees/Nets enterprise I'm sure will throw some scratch at this, as well as Steinbrenner. New York State will only finance infrastructure around the new ball park, and New York State Department of Park and Recreation will takeover ownership of current Yankee Stadium. It will become a State Park/Museum, and I hear they're planning on letting High School/College teams play on the diamond! What a thrill that would be!
