Cashman Extended

Newsday is reporting that Brian Cashman has agreed to a three-year deal to remain the Yankees' general manager.
The team has confirmed the news. It seemed pretty clear that this was going to get done. Cashman would have had opportunities to run other teams without having his hands tied so frequently, but there wasn't much chance of him leaving the most famous and biggest-spending team in baseball.

The Yankees miss the playoffs for the first time in over a decade and Cashman gets an extension. You don't see that often in sports anymore. Refreshing actually. Cashman has a lot of work to do this offseason to get the rotation better and his lineup younger.

Cashman is one of the better GM's in the business. He learns from mistakes and is one of the smartest people in baseball.

Cashman is a good GM, until recently he had a power struggle w/ the Yanks so all those bad FA moves and trades were not his fault. he has rebuilt our farm system in a few years and we finally have some quality young arms again. Now if we can get some young position players we'll be in great shape for the future.

Omar Minaya?

Mets have missed the playoffs before. Why Minaya got an extension I have no idea.
