    News Murcer passes away.

NEW YORK (AP) - Former All- Star outfielder and longtime Yankees broadcaster Bobby Murcer has died at 62.

The Yankees say he died Saturday at home in Oklahoma City following a 19-month battle with brain cancer.

Murcer played 17 seasons in the majors with the Yankees, San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs from 1965 to 1983. He batted .277 with 252 home runs and worked as a Yankees broadcaster for 23 seasons.

Murcer was a fan favorite in New York. He had surgery in December 2006, four days after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. He returned to the broadcast booth last season and briefly this year.

RIP Bobby. This is a very sad day for the New York Yankees. My best to his family.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

This man was an unbelievable man. Put aside his incredible baseball knowledge and experience. He was a great man. All the Yankees mentioned how great of a friend and a person he was when asked about him. I was shocked when i saw this. I really thought he had beaten cancer, as he was back in the broadcast booth for a while.

RIP Bobby Murcer, your knowledge, well spoken ability, and all around awesomeness will surely be missed.

RIP Bobby. This is a tough loss for the Yankee organization. Bobby was a great guy by all accounts, and I wish all the best to his family.

    My dad shed a tear.

    3 for my life.

When Catfish died, when Murcer died, and when my dog died.

    No.

He didn't really see Dimaggio play.

Catfish, Thurman and Murcer were like his gods.

    His Jeter, Bernie, and Coney

The man was battling Brain Cancer, unfortunately this was expected. You never really beat Cancer w/ the type and time of diagnosis that Bobby had. He made it a year and a 1/2 which is a very long time.

Bobby was a class act and will be missed, the good news is he's not suffering anymore.

By the way Dry, your dad's not the only one who got teary. Girardi welled up during his interview as well. As he should. This man was great.
