HOUSTON -- New York Yankees ace Chien-Ming Wang pulled up while rounding third base against Houston on Sunday and had to be helped off the field after scoring in the sixth inning.

After he scored on a single by Derek Jeter, Wang doubled over and pointed toward his right foot when trainers approached him. He put his arms over two Yankees officials and was helped off the field.

Wang pitched five scoreless innings. He allowed six hits and struck out three.

There was no immediate word on the nature or severity of his injury.

It's not sounding good at the moment, a few outlets are reporting it could be a season ender. Hopefully it's not and he won't be out long but if it is we better not panic and give away the farm for Sabathia.

Where are the sources saying it could be a season ender? The preliminaries I saw said it's just a bruised foot, and it's not that bad.

He'll be in a boot at least 6 weeks, they are targeting a September return. I don't think it's a death blow but it sure doesn't help. Just as Wang, Pettitte and Joba were starting to pitch well along w/ Mussina. Hopefully other guys step up and Hughes is back and pitching like he should before too long.
