Yankees are shopping LaTroy Hawkins?

The Yankees are aggressively shopping right-hander LaTroy Hawkins, two rival executives say, intending to clear a spot for a reliever who currently is at Class AAA. Righty J.B. Cox, who missed all of last season after undergoing elbow-ligament transplant surgery, is one candidate; he began the season at Class A, but has since moved to AAA, where he has allowed one run in 12 1/3 innings. Righty David Robertson, who began the season at AA, also has been impressive at AAA. Hawkins, signed to a one-year, $3.75 million free-agent contract, has a 6.08 ERA in 22 appearances . . .

Yeah, Rosenthal is really not that great.

I would take a dirty sock for Hawkins though, and even eat it to get rid of him.

Wow, that's pretty bad. But I think the Yankees would still have to cover his contract too....and maybe toss in a prospect

Yeah, I don't see how that would work. It's got to be one or the other, and I don't see any reason for giving up an additional player with him.

At this point, I don't know if I would give up anything worthwhile for Hawkins. He's given no reason to think he can turn around and be anything more than a 6th inning guy. I'd take him if it was Hawkins and cash(his whole contract) for a AA player or 2. But nothing more
