Pitching Matchup
Chien-Ming Wang (2-0, 1.38)
vs
Clay Buchholz (0-1, 5.40)
Just the lineups everyone predicted for the first Yanks/Sox series...Jose Molina, Alberto Gonzalez, Sean Casey, Melky and Crisp hitting leadoff, no Jeter, Damon, Ellsbury, or Lowell...nonetheless the rivalry is back. I'll be thrilled if the Yanks win the series. As it is I wouldn't be surprised if Boston takes 2 out of 3.
A few random observations and notes on tonight's game:
- Career vs Chien-Ming Wang: Manny Ramirez is 13 for 22 with 2 HRs, David Ortiz is 15 for 30 with 2 HRs. YIKES!!
- Jeter probably won't play in this series, and if he does, it won't be until Sunday, according to Brian Cashman.
- Remember how bad Wang was on the road last year? This is his first road start of the year...this'll be something to monitor this season.
- First time the Yankees have ever faced Clay Buchholz.
